“Weapons of Time” is a pre-show installation that features three figures revolving slowly on three foot platforms while purposefully making their own gestures using a significant prop: a lantern (to guide), a rock (to protect), and a book (to learn). These universal tools are more than props, doubling as representations of timeless “weapons.” To create an experience that encourages imagination, the figures are in fantastical make-up, and hand- made, eight feet long black garments of varied yet complementary designs, each their own work of art, include trim of metal mesh, wire, and nails. This contemplative work invites the viewer to allow their thoughts to journey to far-away places in which these figures might belong.
