Dance Entropy's Artistic Director Valerie Green has spent the year obtaining her Core Energetics Post Graduate Degree with The Institute of Core Energetics.  She is excited to present her thesis Skimming the Surface®:  The Development of an Integrative Somatic Movement Practice

The paper explores the evolution of this work since 2016 and the impact of Core methodology in expanding this practice.  The paper also researches the themes of 30 years of professional dance making, and the impact of Core Energetics on her choreographic process and the repertory of VG/DE.

Using expressive movement, this workshop supports adults in releasing stress, letting go of emotional blockages, and reconnecting with their body and feelings. Through guided exercises, participants gently bring stuck energy to the surface, encouraging self-discovery and emotional release.

Vox Novus proudly announces a special presentation of its signature Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame project featuring toy piano, with pianist Eunmi Ko and choreographer and dance director Rachael Kosch, as part of the Queens New Music Festival at Culture Lab in Long Island City. This program presents a set of fifteen one-minute works, each composed and choreographed as a unique composer–choreographer pairing, creating a series of distinct collaborations that unite contemporary music and dance in real time performance. The performance will take place on May 1 at 7:30 PM.

Skimming the Surface: Movement Healing Workshops aim to support adult and youth populations that may be overcoming diverse forms of trauma and stress through somatic based expressive movement exercises. These workshops will help participants release blocked and repressed energy causing stress or discomfort in one’s life by integrating movement, feelings, and emotions.

The workshop helps participants confront emotional wounds and bring them to the surface in a gentle and compassionate way. When using the language of movement rather than words, different images or emotions may arise, which bypass the controlling and censoring mind. This experience leaves participants feeing expanded and curious about their emotions, with new insights to move forward from.

Each movement journey is handcrafted to best support the participants. Green serves as a guide to help open doorways where each individual will do their personal work, leading them to a heart centered and intuitive place, finding a physical expression and release of emotions and energy whereby a healing process can begin.
